Shakespeare Graduate Conference 2011

On 14 April 2011 the British Institute of Florence will hold the third annual Shakespeare Graduate Conference, with papers given by PhD candidates and by those who have obtained their doctorates no more than two years ago, at Italian universities.
The Conference is interdisciplinary and will be open to any contribution on the life and work of William Shakespeare (1564-1616) and of authors (playwrights, poets and prose writers) who were his contemporaries, but also more general contributions dealing with Shakespearean or Renaissance studies. Literary papers are welcome, but also ones on history, art history, history of the theatre, comparative studies, etc.
– We invite candidates to submit their proposal for papers, bearing in mind the following considerations:The candidate must send the title and a detailed abstract (circa 1500 words), explaining the paper’s content and structure; a bibliography should be attached.
The closing date for proposals is Friday 10 December 2010.
A commission will choose ten of the proposals submitted; the list of candidates selected to take part in the Conference will be published before the end of January 2011
– Each intervention must last no more than 20 minutes and must be given in English (except in the case of candidates from departments other than Anglistica, who may give their papers in Italian)
– One week before the Conference, a definitive text must be submitted.
